SENSECO ACQUIRE SPRINKLER COMPANY CW FIRE

Senseco Acquire Sprinkler Company CW Fire

We are delighted to announce that Senseco have completed the acquisition of the much respected, quality sprinkler contractor “CW Fire”. CW Fire have been in business for over 30 years and have built a very strong reputation in that time.  They have been a key supplier to Senseco Systems for the last few years as a subcontractor and have now become part of the Senseco Family.

This is a very exciting development and means that Senseco Systems will be able to offer a full LPS1048 certified design, installation and maintenance service for Sprinkler Systems and associated mechanical services as part of our industry leading electrical and mechanical offering of fire, suppression, security, voice and integrated systems.

Placing your fire alarm and sprinkler maintenance with a single contractor generates many benefits. We can offer fully compliant end to end testing solutions. This will enable the sprinkler system to be tested to operate flow switches which are monitored by the fire alarm system which in turn operates sounders / outputs, with us checking every stage during our combined service visit. Combining contracts cuts down on your administration and we can offer commercial benefits on combined contracts. Please talk to us about your maintenance requirements.

Seasons Greetings To All Our Clients

We would like to thank all of our clients for their support during a very unusual year and pass on our best wishes for the festive season.   Nobody could have predicted what a year 2020 would have been, but it has largely been business as normal for Senseco.  We have continued to support our clients with maintenance, remedial and project work during the year, to keep essential life safety systems in good working order and compliant. We maintain many fire systems within hospitals so are proud to support our fabulous NHS and front line workers. We have not had to furlough any staff and have actually recruited additional team members in 2020 to grow and strengthen our team in various areas of the business.  We also have exciting plans for growth in 2021.

We’ve missed getting out to see our clients face to face as much as we would have liked this year, but are hopeful things will slowly return to some sort of normality next year.    We have very dedicated team and a really loyal client base and have added many new clients this year, who we look forward to continuing to work with in 2021.  We wish you and your families a safe, enjoyable Christmas and successful New Year.

Brexit Contingency Planning

On 31st December 2020, Britain will leave the European Union, formally, and we continue to update our clients in relation to contingency plans we have in place.

As a responsible service provider supporting critical fire and security systems in our client’s premises, we have approached a number of our key suppliers / manufacturers for their individual statements regarding continued supply of critical spares and products. As an independent company we support a wide variety of systems from different manufacturers. We have put a table together which has been collated from the manufacturer statements we have received.

Although various manufacturers are putting steps in place to ensure continuity of supply of parts, our recommendation is for clients to hold site spares. Whilst we hold some essential spares ourselves at our head office and our engineers have a basic “vehicle stock”, as we support such a wide variety of systems it is impossible for us to carry spares for every single type of system we support.

Holding site spares is our recommendation regardless of Brexit, but uncertainly over supply of spare parts after Brexit increases the need to do this. By holding site spares it means you have surety of supply and it also means that on a maintenance visit if we find a device or component is faulty, we may be able to change it there and then, rather than charge for a repeat visit to change the part. It therefore makes better commercial sense as well as providing back up in case of device or critical component failure, so your system is not compromised. Please advise if you would like us to quote for critical spares for your site.

Systems installed in the UK are generally manufactured to and certified to European standards and are CE marked. British standards apply to fire alarm system design, installation, commissioning and maintenance which we are certified to carry out via our LPS1014 and BAFE SP203 accreditations. Therefore, we do not see any imminent change to this.

As we are a specialist systems service provider, we install new systems and maintain / update / amend existing systems, we do not envisage Brexit having any significant effect on our day to day business, providing we can get access to parts / equipment from the various manufacturers we use. We will still offer our planned and reactive maintenance and project works with our UK based engineering workforce, with back up from our head office based in Kent.

Keeping Connected During Difficult Times

In these difficult times, staying connected with the critical systems on your site, whilst working remotely is more important than ever.  We have had many client requests for remote monitoring and connectivity and we are here to help you with this.  Senseco can offer monitoring contracts utilising an Alarm Receiving Centre to ensure your fire and security systems are monitored 24/7 and incidents can be responded to without delay.  However, we can go further than that by offering our ECO (Engineering Communication Online) and ECO+ service.  We offer a range of solutions to provide you with push notifications to your mobile phone to signal whenever there is a fire reported on site and fault signals can be directed to different staff / user groups.  Depending on your systems on site, we may be able to offer ECO+ allowing two way communication with your system for remote diagnostics in the event of a fault, prior to a maintenance visit or to carry out a health check.   We are here to help and support our contracted and non-contracted clients in these difficult times to ensure you stay connected with critical systems on your site.  Click here for more information

Senseco Certified as a Kentec Installation Partner

Senseco are pleased to be awarded Kentec Installation Partner (KIP) Status.  Brett Boyd, BDM of Kentec handed over the Partnership Certificate to Emma Manuel, HR Manager of Senseco, while Allison Datson, Director of Operations of Kentec handed over the “KIP” Plaque to Lee Thompson, Sales and Marketing Director of Senseco.  Being awarded as Kentec Installation Partners is a recognition of the training undertaken by Senseco and the competence demonstrated to undertake large projects, in particular Kentec Syncro to Taktis Bridge migrations.  Being a KIP allows Senseco to offer a greater range of services and level of support to our clients, backed up by our partnership with Kentec.

Kentec Syncro to Taktis Migration

One of the benefits of being a Kentec Installation Partner is access to the Taktis/Syncro Bridge, which is only available to KIPs.  The Taktis/Syncro Bridge Functionality is for phased panel upgrades on networked systems.  This is a unique solution for migrating Syncro panel networks to the latest Taktis technology, protecting the end user’s long-term investment.

Senseco have already carried this out and have a number of projects ongoing, including a large 18 panel network for a major transportation hub. The ability to set up a replica of the client’s network with mixed panels off site in Kentec’s factory is a major benefit.  With the Syncro/Taktis bridge functionality it is possible to upgrade existing networks from legacy Syncro fire panels to the new highly-sophisticated and scalable Taktis control panel. Upgrades can be carried out on a panel-by-panel basis, reducing capital expenditure and minimising essential system downtime. The bridge functionality enables a Syncro panel to be replaced with Taktis within a Syncro network. On a mixed network Taktis panels will function as a Syncro, but once all panels are replaced, the full functionality of the feature-rich Taktis will become available.  This can be done with minimal disruption to the occupants with less cost, stress and risk for all involved.

Taktis Vision repeaters can also be installed on a Syncro network using the bridge feature, providing an easy-to-use, full-colour, touch-screen interface that delivers information on the status of the fire alarm system to single or multiple locations.  Please talk to us about your existing Syncro panels / networks so we can provide an upgrade solution.

Two New Awards for Senseco

The Senseco team are really proud to have received two prestigious business awards in the last month.  Some of the Senseco team were on hand at our offices to receive our Gold Partner certificate from Notifier, one of our supply partners, as shown above – see second story below for more details.

CarbonNeutral 10 Year Award

We received our impressive 10 Years CarbonNeutral Award which is, of course, made from sustainably sourced and recycled materials.  When Senseco was launched 10 years ago, sustainability was a core value for us from the outset.

The name SensEco was derived from “Sense” as we deal with sensors (for fire and security) and “Eco” for being Eco friendly.   We reduce our carbon usage as much as possible by various schemes and offset any carbon used by funding schemes for renewable energy etc, enabling us to achieve our Carbon Neutral status.

We are pleased to see an improved awareness and focus on the environment and sustainability globally recently and are pleased to be a leader in our industry being the first CarbonNeutral certified fire and security company.

Notifier Gold Partner Award

After a successful business audit, we were awarded our Notifier Gold Partner status and recently received our Gold Partner certificate.  Mick Bull our Business Manager at Notifier also presented Lee Thompson, Head of Sales and Marketing at Senseco, with a celebration cake, which was very well received by all the staff who were in the office!

Senseco have had a long and successful partnership with Notifier and have been involved with many prestigious projects using Notifier products / systems.  The business audit was a thorough audit to assess our technical competence and customer service, a strict criteria had to be met to become a Gold Partner. This ensures we have sufficient staff and engineers trained on the whole of the Notifier range, our technical support calls were audited, our proposals and business processes were also audited as well as making sure we have our fire industry training, certification and accreditations.  This will give our clients confidence of our abilities and strong manufacturer partnerships.

Senseco Systems - Apprenticeships - Investing in the Future

Apprenticeships – Investing in the Future

Senseco are committed to our Apprenticeship Programme, investing in the future of our business and our industry.  We recently welcomed our new apprentices, Ben and Joe, along with their parents, to our offices to sign their apprenticeship contracts and meet the Senseco team.  Their apprenticeship journey will encompass all departments within the company, alongside studying for their Trailblazer Apprenticeship in Fire and Security to get a good all-round understanding of our business and the Fire and Security industry.  The Directors of Senseco are all ex apprentices and we have many apprentice success stories within Senseco.  There are several colleagues within the business that started with Senseco as apprentices and are now in sales, finance, service administration, minor projects and service engineering roles.  Below, we catch up with our third-year apprentices starting their final year before going into their chosen role.

Lewis – Currently in the Sales Team

Lewis has worked around the business experiencing a variety of hands on / site-based roles and office / administration roles. Lewis has realised he is more suited to an office based or sales role.  He is naturally confident and charismatic which works well in a sales environment and has enjoyed meeting clients, carrying out surveys and putting quotations together for system alterations and minor projects.  He is learning the art of balancing client demands for a quick turnaround of quotations, whilst also ensuring they are technically accurate.

Jamie – Currently in the Minor Projects Team

Jamie has enjoyed working in a variety of roles during his apprenticeship and is currently in the minor projects and system alterations team.  He now has his own company van and is proving to be a very valuable member of the team, working in this busy environment.  He is always helpful and quick to learn and working in this team gives a good exposure to the many different systems that we support and includes installation, commissioning and problem solving.

Alex – Currently in the Service Team

Alex is currently working in the service team and we caught up with him when he was working nights in a prestigious, landmark building in London, where he was working as a second engineer.  He was paired with one of our fully qualified engineers, who not that long ago completed this Senseco apprenticeship.  Many apprentices go on to make great engineers in our various engineering teams, but as the above shows, we have apprentices who end up in a variety of different roles within the company.

Somerset House

Somerset House is a heritage property dating back to 1547 in the heart of London. Although it is well known for it’s outdoor skating rink at Christmas and open air concerts in the summer, it has many other uses and accommodates many other tenants. It hosts the UK’s largest creative community working globally across art, technology, business and social enterprise.

The South Wing of Somerset House had a mix of hard wired fire detection system, an obsolete radio / wireless fire detection system and many aspiration systems, most no longeroperational. The project was to replace all of the systems in the South Wing with a single fire detection system for all areas and provide graphical representation of this wing and two other wings with legacy systems on a single graphics platform.

This was all to be carried out within a listed building with mixed use and different tenants with minimal disruption to day to day operations.

Castle Mall

Located in the centre of Norwich City, Castle Mall shopping centre comprises of 60 stores and food outlets, across five levels of retail and leisure, including an 8-screen Vue cinema. The centre also boasts a 790 space multi-storey car park.

The fire detection and alarm system installed in the shopping centre was a Honeywell FC90 system, which was closed protocol and had reached the end of its working life. A replacement system was therefore needed to provide a modern supportable system for the shopping centre.

This is a working shopping centre so minimal disruption to the operation of the shopping centre, retailers and shoppers was of paramount importance.
