10 year hydrostatic testing of gas extinguishing cylinders

10 year hydrostatic testing of gas extinguishing cylinders

The FIA have updated their guidance document on the need for 10 year hydrostatic testing of gas extinguishing cylinders.  The new guidance is available from Senseco Systems & is now much shorter and clearer, the requirements haven’t changed and it clearly states that;

All fixed extinguishing agent containers (eg HFC-227ea (FM-200), FK 5-1-12 (Novec 1230), HFC-23 (FE-13), HFC-125 (FE-25), IG 541 (INERGEN), IG 01(Argon), IG 55 (ARGONITE), IG100 (Nitrogen) and CO2 etc) must be inspected, re-tested and certified accordingly prior to the 10th anniversary of their manufacture or most recent test.

Note 1: Containers found to be in service beyond the 10th anniversary of their manufacture or most recent test should be removed from service.

Therefore if you have any cylinders nearing (or beyond) the 10 year date from their stamp we must advise you as our client of this requirement and request the full cylinder information needs to be passed to the Senseco Systems mechanical team to quote to replace the cylinders.

If you would like some free guidance on this requirement please contact us at sales@sensecosystems.com.

Senseco Systems are also proud to be one of the very few fire companies to be certified to the BAFE SP203 Part 3 Gas Suppression Standard which certifies us (and awarded us with three BSI Kitemark’s) to work on, design, install, maintain and support gas suppression systems.

Unlike the hundreds of our competitors who only possess the Part 1 Fire Alarm approval.

If you want to find out if your compliant on your cylinders and also on your maintenance or projects, then contact a competent third party certified suppression company such as Senseco Systems on sales@sensecosystems.com

Fantastic Client Feedback for Senseco Systems Projects team

I think Senseco have performed extremely well. The project team of Derek and Neil have been great, and together they have worked to ensure that all angles have been covered, and any risk has been mitigated as much as possible. The project itself has been considerably smoother than I anticipated. Yes we’ve had a couple of minor incidents but, on a project of this size and complexity that was to be expected, but importantly we haven’t had any issues that have resulted in any disruption to the business.

I haven’t personally been involved in the panel replacement training etc, but the feedback I’ve received from both Norland and our Security team has been very positive. The system operation is much easier, and the speed in which it functions has also been a strong positive over the previous system.

In summary, I personally am pleased that we opted via the tender process to award the contract to Senseco. The whole process from start to (almost) finish has been first class, and should I ever have to do this again then I would have no hesitation in calling Senseco.

SENSECO REPLACE SIEMENS ALGOREX TO CERBERUS PRO IN A SINGLE WEEKEND

Senseco Systems are delighted to confirm they have recently completed phase one of a significant fire system upgrade for a major blue chip client at their UK Headquarters in London.

The consultant recently tendered the system upgrade to replace the existing Siemens Algorex Closed Protocol as it was now reported as approaching obsolescence. The project was tendered to a number of contractors with the clear requirement for an Open Protocol system to be installed.

Senseco were delighted to propose the Siemens Open Protocol Cerberus Pro solution as this met and exceeded all the requirements of the specification.

Senseco has successfully installed many Cerberus Pro systems over the previous 3 years as a Siemens Value Added Partner (VAP) and so it was the obvious product choice. It also mean’t it retained the site as a Siemen’s product rather than being replaced with an alternative manufacturer which would have been a far greater

[caption id="attachment_1565" align="alignright" width="359"]Old Existing Legacy Algorex System Old Existing Legacy Algorex System[/caption] [caption id="attachment_1563" align="alignright" width="399"]New Cerberus Pro System c/w Firemans Plant Panel, Sprinkler Panel New Cerberus Pro System c/w Fireman’s Plant Panel, Sprinkler Panel[/caption]

challenge.

The unique benefit of this solution was the ability of the new Siemens Cerberus Pro product having backward compatibility with the old legacy Siemens Algorex system. This meant that the system replacement could be carried out in phases, enabling Senseco to replace the Algorex control panels and retain the existing Algorex loop devices (Sensors, Callpoints and Interfaces) These are now operating on the new Cerberus Pro system and the loop devices can now be upgraded to the new Cerberus Pro loop devices one loop at a time and removes all the risk, commercial expense and system downtime of a complete product replacement to an alternative which was the clients intended route.

The client now has a fully Open Protocol system that can be maintained and fully supported by any of the trained VAP’s (value added partners) throughout the UK.

Our client also invested in the latest detection capability with the upgrade and will have the Cerberus Pro ASA smoke detection throughout ensuring false alarm immunity. The product and technology is so advanced that Senseco Systems offer their unique FAITH (False Alarm Immune Technology Harnessed) https://www.sensecosystems.com/fire/faith-guarantee/ Guarantee for the life of the system, guarantees the system against false alarms and backed with a financial commitment.

Senseco are delighted to have completed this phase of the project successfully thanks to weeks of prior planning and successful off site software and factory acceptance testing. We changed over a network of control panels including a total of 9x Control Panels incl Repeaters, MM8000 Graphics Panel, Special Build Fireman’s and Sprinkler Monitoring panels on a system size of nearly 3,000 loop devices. The team completed this critical first phase in a single shift over a weekend. No faults, alarms or negative affect to this large fully occupied building.

We now look forward to working on the next phase of loop changes and achieving completion in the coming months. This first phase couldn’t have gone better and the feedback from both our client and main contractor has been fantastic – Well Done Senseco Systems Projects Team, all delivered with in house capability.

SENSECO LAUNCH IPAD TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE CLIENT COMMUNICATION

Senseco Systems are delighted to announce the successful launch of their new iPad technology across the whole engineering team, after months of testing various platforms they have selected a bespoke solution that perfectly matches the needs of the growing operations team.Senseco Engineering iPad

The solution produced in house also proved to be the most versatile and most reliable with 100% reliability throughout weeks of testing.

Because of the in house flexibility the solution also provides infinite future growth possibilities enabling all engineering team functions and communication to be electronic and instantaneous. The team are able to complete detailed engineer reports sheets for all disciplines regardless of whether fire alarm, security or mechanical services and various other functions and solutions including surveys will all be added as the platform develops and expands across the other divisions.

The system is already proving to be a fantastic step forward for the team, improving communication at all levels and also dramatically reducing response times on reports being issued as they are issued immediately from site to both Senseco HQ service desk and client regardless of whether the client is site based or not they are received electronically.

This in turn has improved remedial quote response times, a recent example this week was an engineer leaving site mid-afternoon having issued a report with a simple recommendation and a completed remedial quote was issued shortly after the report sheet was received the same day.

The investment and time spent testing has proved to very worthwhile and this along with various other enhancements to our operational service delivery team which we will announce shortly will continue to ensure we achieve our aim of #legandarycustomerservice and also maintaining our status as the first Carbon Neutral Fire and Security company in the UK.

It all makes Senseco

Somerset House

Somerset House is a heritage property dating back to 1547 in the heart of London. Although it is well known for it’s outdoor skating rink at Christmas and open air concerts in the summer, it has many other uses and accommodates many other tenants. It hosts the UK’s largest creative community working globally across art, technology, business and social enterprise.

The South Wing of Somerset House had a mix of hard wired fire detection system, an obsolete radio / wireless fire detection system and many aspiration systems, most no longeroperational. The project was to replace all of the systems in the South Wing with a single fire detection system for all areas and provide graphical representation of this wing and two other wings with legacy systems on a single graphics platform.

This was all to be carried out within a listed building with mixed use and different tenants with minimal disruption to day to day operations.

Castle Mall

Located in the centre of Norwich City, Castle Mall shopping centre comprises of 60 stores and food outlets, across five levels of retail and leisure, including an 8-screen Vue cinema. The centre also boasts a 790 space multi-storey car park.

The fire detection and alarm system installed in the shopping centre was a Honeywell FC90 system, which was closed protocol and had reached the end of its working life. A replacement system was therefore needed to provide a modern supportable system for the shopping centre.

This is a working shopping centre so minimal disruption to the operation of the shopping centre, retailers and shoppers was of paramount importance.
