SECURITY INTEGRATE

Condor House is a prestigious, multi-tenanted building in the heart of London.

A mix of corporate office space and retail outlets, the seven-storey property occupies a prominent position opposite St Paul’s Cathedral and near the London Stock Exchange.

The owners of Condor House had recently decided to install speedlanes in the building’s reception for security and to monitor access of staff and visitors.

Thanks to our expertise and experience, Senseco Systems was chosen to install access control systems that would work as part of these speedlanes.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with Combined Technical Solutions (CTS), which managed the work, and Boon Edam, the manufacturer of the speedlanes.

THE CHALLENGE

Among the challenges posed by providing security at a building of this nature is that groups of tenants are only allowed access to specific floors and areas.

We overcame this by working with the building manager to allocate groups of access cards to different tenants. The innovative system not only works with the speedlanes, but also with the lifts, so tenants can only go to particular floors and through certain doors.

THE SOLUTION

We provided “reader in and out” technology for each speedlane, along with a card capture unit for visitors’ cards, which was built into the speedlanes.

We also provided training for the management and reception staff on how to program the access control cards and use the system.

THE RESULT

Steve Robins, director of CTS, was pleased with our work. He said: “It’s a job well done in my book. A big thank you to the team at Senseco who delivered the project. They really owned it and delivered a first-class service.”

In addition to the access control and intercom systems at Condor House, we also maintain the building’s CCTV and integrated life safety system, which comprises fire detection combined with fire telephones and voice alarm.

We have worked with this site for a number of years, and our ability to look after a wide variety of fire and security systems is a key benefit for our client.

Somerset House

Somerset House is a heritage property dating back to 1547 in the heart of London. Although it is well known for it’s outdoor skating rink at Christmas and open air concerts in the summer, it has many other uses and accommodates many other tenants. It hosts the UK’s largest creative community working globally across art, technology, business and social enterprise.

The South Wing of Somerset House had a mix of hard wired fire detection system, an obsolete radio / wireless fire detection system and many aspiration systems, most no longeroperational. The project was to replace all of the systems in the South Wing with a single fire detection system for all areas and provide graphical representation of this wing and two other wings with legacy systems on a single graphics platform.

This was all to be carried out within a listed building with mixed use and different tenants with minimal disruption to day to day operations.
